North
Wellington Co-op is alive, and well and growing!
It is again the time of year for the members of North Wellington
Cooperative Services Inc. to hold our annual general meeting. It
is the time to conduct business and to reflect on the events of
the last year.
From a bold beginning in 1944
with the purchase of a feed mill, North Wellington Cooperative
has continued to meet the expanding needs of our member owners.
In this spirit, our trend continued last year with the opening
of our latest Garden Center in our Durham store. We now have a
successful Garden Center in each of our four locations.
Also, I am very pleased to
announce your co-op has had another successful year showing a
profit of $195,000.00. To be profitable year after year takes a
tremendous amount of hard work and dedication from all involved.
On behalf of the Board of Directors I would like to take this
opportunity to thank Kelly and all of the staff for a job well
done. I would also like to thank the Board of Directors for
their time and effort in helping to make North Wellington Co-op
a success.
Every year the Canadian
Co-operative Association recognizes people who promote co-ops in
Ontario. I am pleased to announce that a past member of this
Board, who served two twelve year terms, has received a Lifetime
Achievement Award. Congratulations to John Tregunna.
As well, I would like to acknowledge and thank Lorne Underwood
and Larry Workman for their dedication and leadership over the
past twelve years to North Wellington Co-op. Both Lorne and
Larry have fulfilled their terms and will be leaving our Board
this coming year.
In closing, I encourage all
members of North Wellington Co-op not only take this opportunity
to ask questions of management and Board members but to get
involved by participating in the election of your Directors. I
believe that being part of an organization means to be involved.
I welcome your thoughts and comments and wish all a happy and
healthy 2007.
John Eccles
